CLAYTON, DE - The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Clayton that claimed the life of a 73-year-old man Tuesday.

Investigators say a Chevrolet Silverado was driving east on Clayton Delaney Road on April 22 just after 12 p.m. approaching the intersection with Alley Mill Road. A Jeep Compass was driving north on Alley Mill Road at the same time, according to police, when the Jeep rolled through the intersection’s stop sign. The Silverado then struck the side of the Jeep, police say.

The driver of the Jeep, a 73-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital but did not survive. On Thursday, police identified the victim as Joseph Bonello, of Clayton.

The driver of the Silverado and his two passengers suffered minor injuries and were later released from the hospital.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone who witnessed this crash to contact them at 302-365-8484.
