ASSATEAGUE ISLAND, VA– The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company confirmed a mare missing for months was found dead.
Saltwater Cowboys asked beachgoers to report any sightings of "Miss Admiral Halsey" after she was unaccounted for during Spring Pony Roundups April 11 and 12.
The Palomino mare had last been seen February 21, not looking unhealthy or malnourished, according to the CVFC.
In a herd health update May 31, officials confirmed "Miss Admiral Halsey" had been found deceased.
