SELBYVILLE, De. - State police have identified the woman who was killed during a shooting at a strip mall.
Delaware State Police say the incident reportedly took place around 11:56 p.m. on Saturday night, as a Halloween party was being held at one of the businesses in the strip mall.
Police were alerted to the scene after reports of gunfire. After arriving, officers noted several cars speeding away and found multiple shell casings scattered across the parking lot.
Troopers say 21-year-old Abriana Ingram, of Milford, was rushed to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. She died at the hospital. Troopers believe Ingram was trying to reach her car when she was fatally struck in the upper torso.
Another woman, aged 30 from Seaford, also suffered a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was in her car when the bullet hit. Police say she received medical attention and was released from the hospital.
Witnesses and initial investigations suggest that a dispute erupted during the Halloween party. Despite efforts to break up the escalating tension, the brawl spilled over into the parking lot. Police say amid the chaos, an unidentified individual brandished a firearm, discharging multiple rounds.
After the gunshots, Police say the scene quickly dispersed and the suspect escpaed in an unknown direction. There is no suspect description at this time.
Delaware State Police are actively investigating the case and urge anyone with information to come forward.
