SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County School District says more of it's students are impacted in an 'emergency services action' or 911 call this school year compared to previous years.
The school district utilizes it's 'Handle With Care' program, which informs the school district if one of it's students was apart of a 911 call. Information comes from local law enforcement.
Kelley Morris-Springston says this year, the district is seeing more notifications from 'Handle With Care' than previous years.
"I would say it's a pretty steady number for opening up a school year based on what we have seen in the past starting in July completing handle with care before we even open the school before the school. You're officially starts on July one, and I am completing handle with care," said Morris-Springston. "Yes, I think it's going to be a steady increase because we have the changing dynamics in a lot of household's, and and I look at it if our crime rate or Act Of Violence has increased in the area that we would probably see an increase in handle with care ."
Wicomico County is in a time of increased crime, especially among it's youth.
