Mosquito

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County mosquitoes can breathe easy now, as the County Executive announced pesticide spraying is finished for 2023.

While two adult mosquito pools tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis and West Nile Virus, the areas were contained and aerially treated before the diseases spread to any humans or livestock.

There were no reported human cases of either disease.

The County Executive says bills will be calculated and sent to the County Finance Office by November 30, then sent out to treated communities before the year’s end.

Areas which received treatments this year will be offered the same service next year, and any community looking to join the program should contact the Wicomico County Executive’s Office by phone at (443) 614-3556 or by email for a 2024 contract.
