Painter Fire

PAINTER, Va. - A house fire in Painter claimed the life of a woman on Tuesday night.

Details are currently limited, but Virginia State Police say the fire occurred on March 31 on A.S. West Road in Accomack County.

Investigators say the fire was not suspicious and originated in the home's kitchen.

One woman died in the fire. Her identity has not yet been released.

A second victim was taken to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation, but VSP says they are expected to recover.
