RECORD POND TIDAL PIER BROKEN

Chopper 16 over the broken floating dock in Laurel

LAUREL, DE.- The Records Pond tidal pier in Laurel will close and be removed.

DNREC says the pier, on Broad Creek just downstream of the Records Pond spillway, was heavily damaged after heavy rain and massive outflow from the dam caused the floating dock to be partially submerged and break off.

The dock has since been secured.

Chopper 16 was over the pier earlier today.

It will be removed as soon as water flows have stopped.
