Residents are raising concerns about bicycle safety along New Road, where a bike trail ends without a marked way to cross the street.

State transportation officials are considering building two pedestrian bridges over Route 1 near Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. The bridges would allow bicyclists and pedestrians to safely cross over busy sections of the highway.

At Monday's city council meeting, city leaders discussed a proposed ordinance banning parking along a portion of Savannah Road. While no long-term solution was approved, the council voted to place temporary no parking signs along the bike lane until a long-term solution is identified.
