SYNOPSIS: Heavy rain will linger into the night as a powerful storm system moves across the Eastern Seaboard. Rainfall totals will pass 2 inches and some spots may see 3 or more inches of rain. Winds will gust to over 40 mph tonight.
DELMARVA FORECAST
Tonight: Cloudy, windy, and turning colder late. Heavy rain, with rainfall totals over 2.0 inches with some areas seeing a total rainfall of over 3 inches. Flooding is possible in low lying areas and along streams and rivers. Low: 36-38°. Wind: SW/NW 20-35+ mph.
Monday: Rain early then clearing, windy and chilly. High 46-47°. Wind: NW 16-34+ mph.
Monday Night: Clear and colder. Winds diminishing. Low 27° Wind: NW 7-16 mph.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, and chilly. High 46-47°. Wind: NW 5-11 mph.
Forecast Discussion:
A strong cold front is passing through Delmarva and it is producing heavy rains and strong winds. We have a wet and windy night on the way, with heavy rain and wind gusts to over 35 mph inland and perhaps over 50 mph on the beaches and near open water on the Bay. Look for temps. near 36-38 degrees by sunrise.
Monday will start with rain, but we will see rapid clearing with a gusty NW wind at 18-34 mph. It will be much cooler with afternoon temps. near 46-47 degrees. Total rainfall from tonight through Monday morning will be over 2-3+ inches. Monday night will be colder with winds diminishing. Look for low temperatures near 27 by daybreak Tuesday.
Tuesday looks sunny with lighter winds, but it will stay chilly as a dry Canadian air mass settles over the entire Eastern Seaboard. Look for afternoon temperatures near 47° Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday night will see another cold front pass but it will be dry with low temps. near 30 degrees.
In the long range: Look for sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday, but it will stay chilly with high temps in the upper 40's. Dry weather is likely through Friday with temps. Back into the low 50's by Friday afternoon. Morning lows will be in the upper 20's to around 30 degrees from Tuesday through Friday mornings.
The average low for mid-November is 33°, with a high temp. of 51°.
