SMYRNA, Del. – Route 1 southbound in Smyrna is currently shut down while Delaware State Police investigate a chicken truck fire.
Troopers say it happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning after the rear wheels of a tractor-trailer hauling a load of chickens caught fire at Exit 119 for North Smyrna.
Southbound traffic on Route 1 is being diverted onto New Discovery Road until the fire is extinguished and the roadway is cleared.
Troopers say no one was injured in the fire.
