SNOW HILL, Md.- Some Christmas decorations were broken and stolen along Washington Street and Morgan Run in Snow Hill Monday night. Some small trees were even uprooted from the ground. The Snow Hill Police Department is asking neighbors to review any camera surveillance video they may have from Monday evening and if there is anything of interest, to send to the police. Neighbors like Michael Prnell, who had decorations stolen, say they are frustrated something like this would happen, especially during this time of the year.
“I’m disappointed because we work hard for what we got and just don’t need people coming back here and destroying our property,” said Prnell. “We all try to beautify our property especially when the seasons come around like Thanksgiving and Christmas you know, we’re in the holiday spirit.”
Neighbor Jack Shellenberger says his Christmas lights were cut.
“Pretty surprising that they came up right to our front post, but thankfully we got to see it when it happened, as soon as my girlfriend opened the door they ran off they weren’t able to cut any more lights they got scared,” said Shellenberger.
Chief of Police for Snow Hill Police Department Andrew McGee says the department is hopeful they can solve this quickly.
"We want people to come into town and look at all the lights, you know we think this is a very isolated incident and we hope to have a resolution soon on who did this and you know we want people to celebrate," said McGee.
McGee says one witness saw three or four juveniles dressed in dark clothing, and that the first report came in around 11:00.
Prnell says he does not understand why someone would do this to his home and his neighbors.
“I’m quite sure that they have parents. And I'm quite sure they have nicer places than we do. So why would you want to destroy ours when you have something nicer?”
Police say they are patrolling Washington Street and Morgan Run.
