GEORGETOWN, Del. - NBC and Telemundo owned television stations team up with hundreds of animal shelters across the U.S. every year in a nationwide pet adoption initiative, Clear the Shelters. The Brandywine Valley SPCA has participated in the event for several years now.
BVSPCA will waive adoption fees for adult cats older than 6-months-old from August 15th to August 30th. The organization says August is the toughest month for cat adoptions.
Director of Operations Walt Fenstermacher says, "Cats, during the summer months, have a lot of competition. They're are a lot of kittens. In the summer months we really see our highest intake of cats at Brandywine Valley SPCA, so running a promotion, such as waived adoptions fees for Clear the Shelters allows more opportunities for cats to find new homes."
Clear the Shelters aims to help more pets get adopted, but also to help make room for more animals in need.
