Dewey Beach Police Arrest 5 In Sunday Morning Fight

DEWEY BEACH, De.- Dewey Beach Police were called to the parking lot of the Ivy Restaurant by a fellow officer at 1:25 Sunday Morning for a fight.  Police say the officer reported 10 to 15 people fighting in the lot.

The officer attempted to intervene, but called for backup as the crowd grew.  Officers arrived and the group moved to the North Beach parking lot, now numbering over 50 people, with various fights interspersed through the crowd.  Police say officers were involved in some of the fights while people in the crowd attempted to incite a riot and told people to fight the police.  Several officers were thrown to the ground and punched and kicked according to Dewey Beach Police.  Officers from the Delaware State Police as well as Rehoboth Beach Police Department arrived, and within ten minutes the scene was controlled.
