CHESTER, Md. - State fire marshals have determined that a house fire in Queen Anne's County Wednesday night was accidental.
According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, someone improperly disposed varnishing cloths in the rear sunroom of a home in the 1700-block of Crab Alley Drive in Chester, causing the material to spontaneously combust.
The fire started just after 8:30 p.m. and was discovered by an occupant of the one-story, single family home. Fifteen firefighters from the Kent Island and Grasonville Volunteer Fire Departments had the fire under control within 15 minutes of arriving.
Fire officials said no one was hurt, but the fire caused about $40,000 in structural damage.
