HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - A Washington County judge has refused to reduce the life sentence of a man who fatally stabbed the father of a teenage girl who had misled him into thinking her dad had physically abused her.
Circuit Judge Daniel P. Dwyer on Friday denied a motion to modify the sentence of 25-year-old Alec S. Eger.
Prosecutors say Eger stabbed 47-year-old Billy Lee Black 20 times on Halloween 2008. Eger entered an Alford plea to first-degree murder in January 2010.
The dead man's daughter pleaded guilty to solicitation to commit first-degree murder in 2012 and was sentenced to six years in prison.
Dwyer did grant a defense request to recommend Eger's transfer to Patuxent Correctional Institution, a facility in Jessup for prisoners with mental health issues.
