BETHANY BEACH, Del.- After a year off, events and live music are coming back to liven up Bethany Beach! The town recently announced its summer concert series lineup.
Live music and shows return to the Bethany Beach bandstand in June, and run all the way until October. This year however, there will be fewer shows. Normally the town sees three shows a week. In 2021, there will be one concert every Thursday evening.
"It's huge. I mean this is a big part of why the visitors come. I mean obviously we have the beautiful beaches but the events are the icing on the cake," said Julie Malewski, media coordinator for the town of Bethany Beach.
Visitors are already filling up downtown Bethany Beach and the boardwalk. Those from out of state say live music and events are what make visiting the Delaware Beaches so memorable.
"We come down every year pretty much, and we are used to a bunch of stuff happening. Last year when we came down there wasn't much happening. We still had fun but it's definitely nice to have things coming back," said Curtis Brinkman, visiting from Pennsylvania.
You won't see bonfires on the beach this summer. Those will return Fridays in October. Movies on the Beach are staying the same with new showings every Monday through August. The Fourth of July parade is canceled but there will still be entertainment that week. The 287th Army Band will play patriotic tunes on the 4th and there will be fireworks on the 5th.
Live shows are free to the public and no tickets are needed. Don't forget to bring your own chair. View the full list of dates and the lineup here.
