CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will pave 2.5 miles of Maryland route 213 through Chestertown beginning Sunday evening.

Resurfacing will extend from the bridge over Chester River to Maryland route 297 as well as on Maryland route 213 to the Washington College entrance. SHA crews will be working to patch and pave the roads from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday through Friday.

According to the SHA, nearly 15,000 vehicles travel on MD 213 through the downtown area of Chestertown daily. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution and to allow a few extra minutes for travel during the construction hours as they may encounter single lane closures.

This Kent County project is just one of the many major road construction and maintenance projects happening throughout the state. For more information on SHA's projects, click here
