School Employee Suspended Over Possible Relationship With Student

WESTOVER, MD - The Somerset County Board of Education suspended an employee on Wednesday after it began in investigation into what is being called an "employee-student" situation.

Superintendent John Gaddis said the first complaint came Tuesday night, and a second complaint was filed Wednesday.

Board of Ed. officials say they immediately did what they could do to protect their students and staff.

Gaddis told WBOC the following: "We received a parent complaint about a situation involving one of our instructors, and so we immediately launched an investigation to see what was going on. Contacted the parents and then based upon that have continued the investigation.

Police have also been contacted in the matter. As for the school employee, they are currently suspended with pay.

Superintendent Gaddis said he cannot release the name of the employee involved because this is an ongoing personnel issue in Somerset county.
