SMYRNA, Del.- Owning property can be difficult to maintain. Roofs start to leak. Doors start to squeak. To help with those repairs, the town of Smyrna is looking to help.
Through the town's Redevelopment Authority, all properties within town limits are eligible for the Facade Improvement Grants.
The grants are available to assist property owners with the cots of eligible improvements or repairs for things like roofs, doors, shutters, walkways, etc. The grants are provided as a reimbursement. Town officials say the property owner must pay for the repairs and if accepted they will be reimbursed for some of the funds. The grants can cover 25% of the cost but not to exceed $2,500.
