WILMINGTON, Del. (AP)- An escapee from a Delaware work release center has been caught in Wilmington and charged in a February shooting that left a woman hospitalized.

Nineteen-year-old Tommy Broomer was arrested Wednesday afternoon, more than six weeks after he escaped from the center. Officials say Broomer, 20-year-old Nycire Mills and 21-year-old Charles Hargroves escaped from Plummer Community Corrections Center on April 12 by scaling an outside wall. Mills and Hargroves were caught the following day.

Sgt. Andrea Janvier says officers searched a home where Broomer was found. She says they discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun and .39 grams of heroin.

Janvier says Broomer was charged with escaping and as a suspected heroin dealer with an illegal gun and ammunition.
