OCEAN CITY, M.d - Tomorrow marks the sixth and last day of the White Marlin Open.
This is the first time in the tournament's history that it is lasting six days, not five.
According to President Jim Motsko, the sixth day was added due to weather concerns.
It cost us a lot of boats over the years where the wind blew," he says. "If we had an extra day, we would extend it. And this way, it's already fixed. We're going to just leave it a three out of the six no matter what the weather is."
With this additional day added this year, business owners are gaining more customers.
Mike Shott is the owner of the restaurant, Shotti's Point. He says the extension is a benefit to his restaurant.
"The longer the people are here, the better it is for business," he says.
The tournament, along with final weigh-ins and celebrations conclude tomorrow evening.
