CAMBRIDGE, MD– The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office arrested a Delaware man on drug distribution charges after a vehicle search uncovered a "significant quantity of illegal narcotics."

Deputies attempted to stop a driver, identified as 22-year-old Bray'Veon Z'Shawn Demby, near the intersection of Cedar Street and Race Street for multiple vehicle and traffic violations, according to a press release. Demby allegedly sped away, committing several more traffic violations before striking a parked vehicle and fleeing on foot.

A search of Demby's abandoned vehicle uncovered 668 grams of suspected cannabis, approximately 58 grams of suspected crack cocaine and inositol powder, often used as a drug diluting agent, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies also found digital scales, packaging materials, three phones and $3,232 cash, all of which the Sheriff's Office calls "consistent with the manufacture and distribution of illegal narcotics."

Demby was located and arrested before being committed to the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond for traffic violations and the following drug charges:

  • Manufacturing a Controlled Dangerous Substance - Narcotic (Felony)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics (Felony)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Cannabis
  • Possession of Cannabis - Over Civil Limit
  • Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance – Not Cannabis
