LEWES, DE - The Delaware State Police have announced the rescue of an elderly man and his dog from a forest with the help of their Aviation Section’s helicopter.

According to DSP, their helicopter assisted Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control in locating the man and his canine companion after they were reported lost in the woods of Cape Henlopen State Park Thursday around 7:30 p.m. DSP says the two were lost for about an hour and a half.

Once the State Police helicopter located the man, troopers then guided responders on the ground to him to walk him out of the forest. Police say the man and his dog are home safely.
