Flooding in Dewey Beach

DEWEY BEACH, Del. - The town of Dewey Beach is asking neighbors to submit their photos of the recent nor’easter in an effort to study and address flood risks.

The town says the study is intended to better understand how coastal storms affect Dewey Beach and identify areas that may be particularly vulnerable to flooding. Residents and property owners who took photos of recent flooding, standing water, stormwater impacts, or other storm-related conditions are being asked to submit them through the Resiliency Study Submission Portal on the town’s website.

According to town officials, photos from different areas of Dewey Beach could help researchers identify flooding patterns and document locations that may be especially susceptible to storm impacts.

Officials say photos taken during or shortly after the nor’easter can still provide useful information even if the affected areas have since dried out or returned to normal conditions.

The town says information gathered through the study will be used to better understand Dewey Beach’s vulnerabilities and help guide future planning aimed at improving the community’s resilience to coastal storms.

Anyone submitting a photo is asked to include the location and date it was taken, if possible. Photos can be submitted to the town at this link.
