DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department says two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a June shooting that left an occupied home riddled with gunfire.
Police say officers were called to Topaz Circle in the Emerald Pointe community shortly before 5 a.m. on June 13 for reports of shots fired. Investigators determined multiple rounds were fired into an occupied home at about 4:52 a.m. A 66-year-old man, a 51-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old man were inside the home at the time.
Luckily, no injuries were reported.
According to police, investigators documented at least 21 projectile strikes to the residence and recovered 24 shell casings from the area.
Following an investigation by the Dover Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit, detectives identified two male suspects and obtained warrants for their arrests.
Police say 18-year-old Tyion Bailey, of Dover, was located and arrested by patrol officers on Aug. 1 without incident. Bailey is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of first-degree reckless endangering and criminal mischief over $5,000.
He remains in custody at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $69,000 cash bond.
Police say detectives then obtained an arrest warrant on Aug. 3 for a 16-year-old boy from Dover. The teenager was already being held at Stevenson House on unrelated charges when he was charged in connection with the Topaz Circle shooting with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, three counts of first-degree reckless endangering, second-degree conspiracy, and criminal mischief over $5,000.
