Easton Ready for Crab Drop and Global Recognition

EASTON, MD - US Today’s Readers Choice 2023 has named Easton’s Crab Drop among the top 10 best New Year’s Eve countdown drops in the United States.

Easton neighbors and other fans of the Crab Drop had until December 4th to cast their votes in the USA Today poll. Now, Easton can enter the New Year knowing their tradition is among the most beloved in the nation.

The Crab Drop ranked at number 6 in the Top 10, edging out a Mushroom Drop in Pennsylvania, a MoonPie Over Mobile, Alabama, and a Grape Drop in Temecula, California. The top spot on the list went to a New Year’s Eve Beach Ball Drop in Panama City Beach, Florida.

According to DiscoverEaston.com, the tradition began in 2005. This year the Maryland Crab Drop is planned for both 9 p.m. on December 31st and midnight for the New Year. Admission to First Night Talbot, in which the drop occurs, is free according to Discover Easton.
