PRESTON, Md.- Fishing Line was strung across Hunting Creek Bridge around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening. One of Caroline County's deputies noticed that he drove into the line when the back of his spotlight was slashed.
Donald Lee Baker Jr., of the Caroline County Sheriffs Department said, police responded to a call of juveniles on Hunting Creek Bridge that were playing and disrupting traffic. However, they do not know if it was the juveniles that strung the line.
"Now, if this had been a bicyclist or a motorcyclist, then it could have done serious damage to the operator of the vehicle. If it distracted the driver who was driving, he could have driven into the bridge", says Baker.
The speed limit, on the bridge, is 25 miles per hour. Baker says, "If it was a motorcyclist and he was driving at any type of speeds and he didn't see the string, it was going to pull him off the motorcycle or bicycle". Baker said, it's extremely dangerous.
Neighbors in the area said, "They might think its great, but its not. It's going to get somebody hurt after a while. It's dangerous if someone comes by on a motorcycle. But, its also dangerous if something goes flying through there and hits someone", says Danny Mitchell.
"It's a scary thing to think about", said one neighbor.
Baker said the fishing line is in evidence while the investigation is still active.
