LAUREL, Del. - The Laurel Police Department say they are partnering with Protection4Paws, an organization currently working to equip 250 working K9s across the country with lifesaving K9 Trauma Kits.
Laurel PD says they are working to get one of their own K9s, K9 Blitz, his own medical trauma kit as part of that campaign. Because Blitz and his handler work to protect other officers and the community, his job can place him in dangerous situations.
If Blitz was ever seriously injured in the line of duty, Laurel PD says every second matters. A K9 Trauma Kit gives his handler immediate access to specialized medical supplies that can help stabilize Blitz following a gunshot wound, severe bleeding, laceration, a heat-related emergency, or any other traumatic injury until he can be given emergency veterinary care.
A K9 Trauma Kit costs $200, while an Advanced K9 Trauma Kit costs $250. Laurel PD has provided a link to their fundraiser and say they hope the community can support the campaign and make K9 Blitz one of the 250 working K9s receiving protection in honor of America's 250th Anniversary.
