VIENNA, Md.- Authorities say an electrical malfunction is to blame for a New Year's Eve fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a home in Vienna.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze broke out shortly before 6 p.m. at a one story home located at 4930 Kraft Road.
It took 25 firefighters from the Eldorado-Brookview Fire Company approximately half an hour to get the fire under control.
The fire caused an estimated $2,000 in damage to the structure and another $15,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators ruled the fire accidental and said it was caused by the failure of a branch electrical circuit in an interior living space.
