Salisbury Man Charged with Assault, Robbery Following Stabbing Over Debt

SALISBURY, Md.- A Salisbury man is in custody following accusations that he stabbed another man multiple times over a small debt.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on West Road at Dennis Street in Salisbury.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing and found the victim suffering from multiple wounds to his arm which were not considered life-threatening.

According to deputies, the man responsible for the attack was identified as Derrell D. Cook, 27, who was found and placed under arrest.

The investigating deputy also reported that Cook allegedly stabbed the victim over a small debt and because the victim “ran his mouth too much.”

The victim also stated that during the attack, Cook attempted to take cash from the victim’s possession.

Cook was arrested and charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment. He is being held without bond in the Wicomico County Detention Center.
