SEAFORD, Del.- The Seaford School District has appointed a new superintendent.
On Tuesday, Dr. Corey Miklus was named superintendent of schools. He will be replacing the current superintendent, David Perrington, who announced in September that he would be retiring in December.
Miklus currently serves as Seaford’s assistant superintendent and has been with the district since 2014.
“I am excited to continue the work that already has been established across the district,” Miklus said. “I look forward to working with the Board of Education, district staff, and families to continue to enhance educational opportunities for all of the students of the Seaford School District.”
Miklus began his career in education as an elementary teacher in the Caesar Rodney School District.
The district says Milkus will be bringing more than 20 years of experience in education in Delaware to the position, having served as a teacher, assistant-principal, building principal and district supervisor prior to arriving in Seaford as the director of instruction.
The Board approved a multi-year contract for Miklus at its meeting. His appointment will begin on Jan. 1, 2020 and will run through June 30, 2023.
