These are Delmarva's Top Public High Schools

 

SALISBURY, Md.- U.S News and World Report has released its list of top public and charter high schools in the country.

Sussex Academy for Arts and Sciences in Sussex County is the highest ranked school in lower and central Delaware, obtaining the No. 4 spot in the state.

"It's really reflective of the good work our faculty and staff do here," says Eric Anderson, head of the school.

Also in the top 10, we find Sussex Tech coming in at No. 9 and Dover High and Caesar Rodney ranked 7 and 6, respectively.

A little further down the list, Indian River is ranked number 14, Milford High School is 12, Delmar High was ranked at number 25 and Cape Henlopen right above it at number 24.

In Maryland, St. Michael's High School, in Talbot County, was the highest ranked school on the Eastern Shore, coming in at number 25 out of 215 schools.

For Worcester County, Snow Hill was ranked 69th, while Pocomoke High came in at No. 86.

In Somerset County, Crisfield Academy and High School was ranked 78th.

Cambridge-South Dorchester High was ranked 131.

For Wicomico County, Mardela Middle and High School is the highest ranked for the district coming in at No. 110. Bennett High School came in at No. 122 while Parkside was ranked at No. 143 and Wicomico High School at No. 168.

In Virginia, Chincoteague High School was ranked 115 statewide,  while Arcadia High School landed the 279 spot.  

This list includes more than 23,000 public and charter high schools nationwide. Private schools were not considered. The rank is based on the schools' performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
