Hearing on Drone Legislation Set in Maryland

SALISBURY, Md.- The SBY Autonomous Innovation Center broke ground Monday at the Salisbury-Wicomico Regional Airport.

The center will serve as a major facility for the development, manufacturing, and testing of drones on the East Coast.

The $1.5 million project is expected to generate tens of millions of dollars in local revenue and that's not all.

"This facility is going to bring hundreds of high-paying jobs and it's going to spur the development of other industries and businesses that are also going to bring high-paying jobs to the Lower Shore," said Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce President Bill Chambers.

The new innovation center will be housed in an 8,000-square-foot hangar and the opening is planned for this summer.
