OCEAN CITY, MD - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) has announced the continuation of long-term repairs of the Harry W. Kelley Memorial Bridge over the Sinepuxent Bay in Ocean City.

On January 3rd, crews will resume the repair work on the machinery rooms of the draw span of the US 50 bridge, and the SHA says roadway, sidewalk, and marine channel closures are expected throughout the project. Work is expected to be completed by March 2, weather permitting.

The SHA says the two eastbound lanes and the eastbound sidewalk on the bridge will be closed during the work, with two-way traffic continuing on the westbound lanes of the bridge. Drivers can expect barriers, barrels, and cones to guide them through the work zone. Arrow panels and VMS boards placed before the work zone will also be used to alert motorists, according to the SHA.

The Department of Transportation says they will work with the U.S. Coast Guard and other local officials to minimize the impact on marine traffic. However, the SHA says construction barges will block the marine channel, closing the channel to vessels. Boats that do not require the draw span of the bridge to be open can pass under adjacent spans.
