SMYRNA, Del. - A man is facing felony charges after police say he robbed a smoke shop at gunpoint.

Smyrna Police Department says 32-year-old Isaiah Council, of Wilmington, is in custody.

Police say on May 22, around 3 p.m., Council entered Smokiez Smoke Shop on North Dupont Highway while wearing a disguise. Police say Council pointed a handgun at an employee and demanded vape products and money, which he ran off with.

Smyrna PD Detectives identified Council and an arrest warrant was issued on May 28.

On June 20, police say Council was contacted by Wilmington Police for a separate incident. Smyrna PD then arraigned Council via video court.

Council was committed to the Department of Corrections in lieu of $125,100.00 cash bail pending a future court hearing. He faces the following charges.

  • Robbery First Degree- Displays What Appears to be a Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Poss/Purch/Own or Control Firearm within 10 years of Prior Conviction
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, a Firearm
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Theft Under $1500
  • Offensive Touching
