EASTON, Md. - The Easton Police Department says a man has now been arrested on charges related to a road rage incident that occurred on August 29, 2025. Officers say around 10:42 a.m. that day, they responded to the 8600 block of Commerce Drive in Easton for reports of an assault.
Officers say they met with the 67-year-old victim who informed them that the driver of a black truck displaying a company logo stopped in front of him in the middle of the road and exited his truck. The suspect then walked over to the victim's car and started to yell at him.
The victim reported he then took out his phone and started to record the incident when the suspect pulled the victim out of the car, punched him in the face, and kicked him in the ribs and ankle. The suspect then took the victim's phone, stomped on it, and proceeded to take the phone with him. Police say the victim had injuries consistent with assault.
The suspect in the incident was later identified as James D. Shacochis Jr., a 44-year-old man from Federalsburg, MD. On March 31, 2026, Shacochis was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Robbery
- Assault 2nd Degree
- Malicious Destruction of Property
- Theft of $100-$1500
