CAMDEN, Del. - The Delaware State Police say they arrested a 13-year-old from Dover after a BB gun was found in his backpack at the Postlethwait Middle School.
The student was arrested on October 7. Police say the School Resource Officer assigned to the Caesar Rodney School District responded to F. Neil Postlethwait Middle School on South State Street in Camden after school staff reported they found a BB gun in a student's backpack. The SRO then learned that school staff was told a 13-year-old student had dropped a vape device in the hallway, and the BB gun was found during a subsequent staff safety search of his backpack.
Police say no one was injured during the incident.
The teenager was arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm in a Safe School Zone, which is a felony. He was then released on his own recognizance to a parent or guardian.
