FELTON, Del.- A New Jersey man is facing multiple charges after reportedly failing to stop for a Felton Police officer.
On Monday, police say 32 year-old Christian Whichard, of Willingboro, was traveling Southbound in the 100 block of South Erin Avenue and failed to stop at a posted stop sign. A Felton Police Patrol saw the alleged violation and tried to pull over Whichard's white Nissan Altima.
After a brief pursuit, police say the car pulled into a home and Whichard failed to provide any information on the car or his driver's license. There were also two small children in the car at the time, according to police.
Investigators say they later learned the car Whichard was driving was not registered, and he did not have a valid driver's license. Additionally, police say he had a traffic capias out of Justice of the Peace Court #7.
Whichard was arrested and charged with
Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, First Offense (Class G Felony), Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor), Failure to have Insurance Identification in Possession (Misdemeanor), Driving without a Valid License (Misdemeanor), Expired Tags (Violation), Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign (Violation) and Failure to Comply with Taking of Photos and Fingerprints (Class A Misdemeanor). Whichard was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #7 and released on his own recognizance pending a later court date. The two small children in the car were safely turned over to a family member.
