OCEAN CITY, MD — Despite the ongoing winter storms hammering Delmarva's shores, some individuals, undeterred by the cold and wind, continue to frequent Ocean City's boardwalk.
Barney Davis from Salisbury says it's one of his favorite times to be out and about in OC --
"I actually like it when it's raining; it's a little bit different from when it's busy in the summer, super crowded. It's peaceful, the beach is peaceful," said Davis.
While most boardwalk businesses closed their doors during Saturday's storm, a few, like Thrasher's French Fries, remained open to provide hot fries for those unfazed by the inclement weather.
"If it's 30 degrees and it's sunshine, it's okay, but today with the rain... and it's cold, and we're expecting more rain – it kind of hurts. But as you can see, we have some customers today, so that makes it worthwhile," said Les Morris, General Manager at Thrasher's.
Despite Ocean City avoiding the snowfall seen farther north, the combination of rain and wind did little to dampen the spirits of those determined to savor the coast.
Les Morris from Thrasher's added that, regardless of weather conditions, people always find a way to enjoy coast, anytime of year -
"A few years back, we built snowmen out here, and still, people were out here on the boardwalk. So still, if it's a big rainstorm, the waters are high, the tides are real high – people still love to come down."
