CAMDEN, De. - A Kent County is hoping to make the vaccination process easier for elderly community members who are trying to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine.
Camden Pharmacy, a locally owned and operated pharmacy, was one of the first local pharmacies in Delaware to begin distributing the COVID vaccine in January, according to owner and chief pharmacist Leena Amin.
In just the last 8 weeks, Amin says that her and her staff have been able to vaccinate over 5,000 people, and that she is partnered with the Shop Rite in getting their employees vaccinated.
To make it easier for those 65 and older, Amin has been doing walk in appointments, rather than having them sign up.
"It's very hard for them to navigate the complicated system of making an appointment, especially the elderly. They were having a very hard time making appointments so what we did in order to prioritize them is 10am to 2pm we take walk ins for anyone 65 and older. So they don't need to make an appointment, we just wanted to make it accessible to them," explained Amin, who said that some days, they do appointments for vaccines every 5 minutes.
If you are 50 and older, or you have a qualifying condition, you can also get your vaccine from the Camden Pharmacy. You can sign up for an appointment on their website.
