Ocean City Honors Shelia Mary Hurst Brex With Keys To The City

OCEAN CITY, Md.- The Town of Ocean City presented former WBOC weatherperson Shelia Mary Hurst Berx with the Key To The City Tuesday during its town council meeting.

Berx lived in Ocean City for 75 years and is originally from England.

She moved to West Ocean City in 1947 where she became a staple in the community along with her husband -- operating the Mast Hotel and Restaurant for many years.

When accepting the honor Berx said no matter what country she visited, it was always a treat to come back to Ocean City.

"This is quite a biography, quite a list of accomplishments over an awful long period of time and your service to your country, to England and then being a resident here for 75 years, we want to congratulate you," said Ocean City mayor Rick Meehan.

Berx said she will cherish the honor forever.
