SALISBURY, Md.- Plans to develop a piece of riverfront property on Fitzwater Street in Salisbury are moving forward.
The Marina Landing project received final comprehensive plan approval from the city's planning and zoning commission. That means the project is one big step closer to construction.
"The next step is figuring out the stormwater and then once the stormwater design is complete, then it can start construction," said Mayor Jake Day.
The plan is to develop an empty property next to the Rivers Edge Apartments with a public boathouse and two towers that include apartments, along with restaurants and retail space.
Day said the marina will also see site improvements.
"Seeing more happening in the Fitzwater Street corridor is really exciting. We're really excited to be raising the bar over there and adding value to the West Side," said Day.
The Marina Landing property is being developed by the Salisbury Development Group.
Day said construction could start within the next few months.
Day also said a project to improve Fitzwater Street will start this summer, likely in late July. That project includes stormwater, street-scape, paving, sidewalk, and urban greenway improvements.
