SERIOUS CRASH GENERIC

MILTON, Del. - The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced the extended closure of Route 1 near Milton following a serious crash on Friday.

DelDOT officials first announced the closure just before 3 p.m. on Nov. 7, saying the crash occurred south of Hudson Road. Southbound traffic was being directed onto Hudson Road following the crash, and the left lane of Route 1 northbound was closed north of Hudson Fields, according to DelDOT.

Details are still extremely limited. Delaware State Police told WBOC just before 3:30 p.m. that crews were still on the scene of the crash. Images from the scene show a wrecked car that appears to have collided with an excavation truck. 

At 4 p.m., officials said Route 1 would remain closed for the next several hours.
