Tammy Adkins

SALISBURY, MD - After nearly two decades under the dutiful care of owners Tammy and Gaylon Adkins, the Adkins Farm Market in Salisbury has been listed for sale.

The market, located near the Salisbury Airport on Mount Hermon Road, has long been a popular family attraction, boasting a wide variety of plants, produce, pumpkins, and an annual corn maze, to name a few.

“We started 18 years ago and it kind of took off right off the bat,” Gaylon Adkins said.

“It’s got our DNA in it now,” Tammy added.

But Tammy and Gaylon say those years add up and are starting to take their toll.

“Our minds say we can do it, but then our bodies say, ‘nope!’”

The Adkins told us they’d also like to spend more time with their grandchildren.

As for their hopes for the future of the Farm Market, the Adkins say they want to see it continue even after they’ve sold it.

“We would love to see it continued on as it is now,” Tammy told WBOC earlier today as she spoke about the listing. “You know it’s a legacy. People come from all around - they have birthday parties and family reunions here and they mark it on their calendar when they want to come.”

Due to the property’s proximity to the airport, it will need to maintain certain agricultural requirements and so will most likely remain a farm, according to Tammy. Whether the new owners keep the corn maze, however, remains to be seen.

Tammy Adkins assured WBOC they’re not throwing in the towel, though - far from it, in fact. They don't know when the market will be bought and plan to keep going until then.

"It's not that this isn't our last year, we haven't decided that."

When the sale does happen, she and Gaylon are eager to stay involved with the farm and the new owners in any way they can.

Adkins Farm Market is currently listed online for just under $1.2 million.
