PRINCESS ANNE, MD - A Somerset County jury has convicted a 44-year-old man of second degree murder and various gun charges in connection to a 2023 shooting.
Morris Cotton, of Westover, was convicted of Second Degree Murder and Firearm offenses on April 3.
Maryland State Police received a report of a gunshot victim at a residence on Hudson Corner Road on October 1, 2023. According to prosecutors, Morris Cotton was seen leaving the crime scene naked on Hudson Corner Road when police arrived and was detained. The victim, Amy Uff, was found lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.
The witness who called 911 claimed he saw Cotton point a .22 caliber rifle at the victim’s head and shoot her.

A pre-sentence investigation is underway and Cotton may be sentenced to more than sixty years in prison. Cotton’s sentencing is currently scheduled July 14, according to online court records.
