ROYAL OAK, MD - The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced a speed limit change coming to Talbot County due to safety concerns.

According to MDOT, the speed limit on MD 329 (Royal Oak Road) between MD 33 (St. Michaels Rd) and Moores Road near Royal Oak and Newcomb is set to be reduced. The current speed limit is 40 mph, and the reduction will bring it to 35, MDOT says.

MDOT says the reduction is hoped to improve safety along Royal Oak Road, which passes homes, driveways, and sidestreets. Drivers are asked to obey posted speed limits to ensure community and driver safety.

The speed limit reduction is expected this week, according to the Department of Transportation.
