OCEAN PINES, MD - Police say two teens were attempting to steal Kia vehicles in the area.
Ocean Pines Police say on June 5, around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to Garret Drive for a report of a vehicle break-in. Police say the vehicle's alarm was activated and the resident went outside to find one of the side windows smashed out and the door ajar.
Upon arrival, an officer reportedly found two juveniles who ran into the woods and gave chase. MSP, the Worcester Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 from the Pocomoke City Police assisted in locating the two juveniles and arresting them.
Police identified the suspects as a 15-year-old boy from Ocean Pines and a 14-year-old boy from Harrisonburg, Virginia.
During their investigation, police say two additional victims were located on Falconbridge Road and Fantail Court. All three of these vehicles involved were Kias and all had been entered after a window had been smashed out. Police say the juveniles were attempting to steal them.
Ocean Pines Police say an officer took a report on July 3 for a similar incident involving a smashed window on a Kia during the overnight hours. Police believe these two teens were responsible for this incident.
Both juvenile suspects were transported to the Ocean Pines police station where the investigation continued, and their families were contacted. The juveniles were released pending formal action by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
