Queen Anne's County High School

CENTREVILLE, MD - The Queen Anne’s County Board of Education has reported two bomb threats called into both the Board of Education office building and Queen Anne’s County High School (QACHS) Tuesday morning.

The BOE says they received a threat today, October 10th, around 9:30 a.m. Queen Anne’s County High School then received a similar call minutes later, according to the BOE. Both buildings were immediately evacuated and the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office secured a perimeter of both the BOE office and QACHS campus.

At 10:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office concluded a sweep of the interior and exterior of the BOE and found no threat to the building or area, the BOE says. A sweep of the High School was underway as of 10:45 a.m. as well.

Dismissal began for QACHS students at 10:45 a.m., and the BOE says parents have received communications from the school.

As of 12:30 p.m., the The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office determined the threats were not credible and there was not threat to the safety of students and staff. The Board of Education announced the cancellation of all after school and evening activities citing the difficulty some students would have returning to the building.

The BOE says it will continue to work with police in hopes of avoiding future disruptions.
