SEAFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police say they are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that killed a Seaford man in late July and have now located a vehicle of interest.
Investigators say around 2 p.m. on Friday, July 24, a bicyclist was riding on Woodpecker Road, west of Butler Branch Road, in Seaford. At the same time, an unknown vehicle was driving on Woodpecker Road, approaching the bicyclist. Police say for reasons being investigated, the vehicle hit the bicyclist and drove away.
The bicyclist, 73-year-old Michael Barrett, died at the scene, according to DSP.
The road was closed for four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
One week later, police announced on July 31 that their search for the suspect vehicle continued and that they were now seeking the public's assistance. DSP said they needed help identifying and locating a red or maroon vehicle that may have damage to the right front headlight area.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, police said they had located the vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox, and were working to identify the driver.
