A few rain and snow showers are going to be possible this morning as the low that we have been watching to our south stays to our south this morning. As it departs, it will pull in some much colder air throughout the day and the wind will start to pick up later this morning into the afternoon hours. Some wind gusts over 30+ mph are going to be possible later today, making it feel much colder than what the thermometer will read. Highs today are expected to reach the 40s this afternoon with wind chill values in the 30s.
We start things off tomorrow bitterly cold as the wind is expected to settle down overnight with temperatures in the 10s and 20s by the morning hours. It will be a cold day as an Arctic high settles over the top of the region and will keep our temperatures down in the 30s and 40s.
All eyes will then turn to the next storm heading our way for the weekend. For the snow lovers, this is a near miss with regards to snow chances. If you want the snow, the Poconos … mountains of Maryland and West Virginia are a great idea and into central Pennsylvania as that is where we are expecting the most snowfall in the region. For us, this storm will be a wet one with periods of heavy rain and windy conditions with some wind gusts over 40-50+ mph possible from Saturday night into Sunday. With the wind direction for us out of the southeast and east, we could see some beach erosion and coastal flooding issues along the coast for a couple high tide cycles from Saturday into Sunday. On average, we are expecting about 1” of rain across the Peninsula by the time the rain ends on Sunday morning.
If we don’t get enough rain from this storm for you, we will get plenty more with a stronger storm that will be passing to our northwest Tuesday into Tuesday night with windy conditions expected as well!
